Abstract

Villagiature, originating from the Italian aristocratic habit of spending time in villas in the countryside, reflects the desire for temporary travel for leisure in places other than one's usual residence. This social practice drives the production and (re)production of the urban fabric, transforming rural areas into tourist destinations and promoting the economic valorization of these regions. With urbanization, the search for rest has consolidated the trend of second homes in tourist areas, facilitated by real estate financing, which, in addition to financial investments, symbolize social advancement and emotional ties. Thus, villagiature contributes to the continuous transformation of the urban and rural space. This article is based on the concept of villagiature to study the effects of this activity in the municipality of Alexânia – GO. As a result, it is concluded that villagiature significantly reorganizes the territory around Lake Corumbá IV, in Alexânia – GO. This practice transformed agricultural areas into leisure areas and second homes, driven by real estate growth and demand from residents of Distrito Federal.
