Abstract

The coastal zone is a highly sought-after area for the development of leisure and tourism activities due to its unique landscapes and the widespread popularity of sun and beach tourism, becoming even more attractive when located near protected areas that guarantee local preservation. Therefore, this study analyzes tourists' perceptions of the environmental conditions and infrastructure in the village of Jericoacoara, Ceará, Brazil. The research adopted a quantitative and descriptive approach, based on the application of 214 structured questionnaires using a Likert scale. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA), with reliability assessed using Cronbach's alpha and McDonald's omega coefficients. The results indicate that elements of the natural landscape – such as beaches, lagoons, and dunes – are the main factors of attraction. Visitors consider basic infrastructure (water supply, energy, and sanitation) extremely important in choosing a destination. It is necessary to integrate planning and management strategies that reconcile tourism development with environmental conservation in Jericoacoara.
