Abstract

This article examines distinct stages of control within advanced media societies (Trivinho, 2007), particularly regarding the intensification of gender oppression and the reinforcement of patriarchy (Chauí, 1985) in predatory digital ecosystems. To this end, the essay establishes multilateral socio-phenomenological connections between the power dynamics of large technology-based oligopolies and their impacts on the current epochal horizon. These dynamics are fundamentally characterized by symbolic violence (Bourdieu, 2004) and algorithmic servitude, meticulously camouflaged by simulacra (Baudrillard, 1991) that distort the social imaginary (Castoriadis, 1986). The argument identifies "spectral performativity" as a new modus vivendi of cyberculture: a process of "disappearing of the self" (Le Breton, 2013), sustained by the violent and invisible machinery of surveillance capitalism (Zuboff, 2021).
