Security Measures and the Brazilian Psychiatric Reform: An Integrative Literature Review

This study examines security measures through an anti-asylum perspective informed by the Brazilian Psychiatric Reform. It analyzes how the scientific literature has constructed the notion of dangerousness and the role of forensic psychiatric assessment in sustaining security measures. Based on an integrative literature review of 34 studies, the analysis considers inequalities and forms of oppression as interpretive axes. The findings indicate the consolidation of a critical anti-asylum approach that challenges security measures and their underlying foundations. However, the literature still requires deeper engagement with social markers as determinants of health.
