Inflection of nouns, verbs, and postpositions in Khĩsêtjê

This study examines the inflection of nouns, verbs, and postpositions in the native language of the Khĩsêtjê people. The first author of this paper is a member of the Khĩsêtjê people and a resident of the village of Khĩkatxi. The research was conducted as part of Programa de Iniciação à Pesquisa Científica, Tecnológica e em Inovação (PIP) of Pró-reitoria de Pesquisa e Inovação (PRPI) at the Federal University of Goiás (UFG). In Khĩsêtjê, nouns, verbs, and, postpositions exhibit person inflection. In addition, verbs exhibit finiteness inflection, distinguishing between finite and nonfinite forms. For this study, inflection paradigms were produced for words belonging todifferent grammatical classes. Furthermore, an exhaustive survey of the postpositions of the Khĩsêtjê language was conducted. The results of this research will form the basis of a pedagogical grammar of the Khĩsêtjê language, to be used at the Khĩsêtjê Central State Indigenous School of Basic Education (EEICEB Khĩsêtjê).
