Conrado Silva definitively marked the emergence of fields of knowledge that developed in Brazil from the mid-20th century onwards: contemporary music, involving experimental practices and technologically supported music; architectural acoustics, notably room acoustics; audio engineering in sound design projects; music education, through the creation and implementation of music workshops; cultural, educational and artistic promotion, through the independent label Tacape, with editorial lines in musical memory and ethnographies; collaborative organisation of the Latin American Contemporary Music Courses as spaces for meetings, exchanges, seminars, aesthetic debates, music workshops, composition and interpretation workshops; management of the Núcleo Música Nova de São Paulo (New Music Centre of São Paulo). This essay presents some of his contributions in these areas, highlighting how Conrado Silva captivated a new sensibility of listening and artistic creation, a perceptive and synthetic openness that radiated from Música Nova to a multitude of fields that are highlighted in a series of audio podcasts produced by the Sound and Creative Processes Study Group at IdEA/Unicamp based on documents from the Conrado Silva Collection at CDMC/CIDDIC/Unicamp, recovered with funds from the Santander Universities Programme
