Abstract

This special issue of Música Hodie presents a dossier dedicated to SBCM 2025, the 19th Brazilian Symposium on Computer Music, hosted by NICS/UNICAMP. Held in a context of growing international visibility and internal diversification, the symposium brought together contributions from different regions of Brazil as well as from Italy, the United States, Argentina, and Colombia.

Author Biographies

    Micael Antunes is a researcher and composer affiliated with Aix-Marseille University, CNRS, PRISM Laboratory (UMR 7061), LIS, and InCIAM, France. He holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science and conducts interdisciplinary research at the intersection of computer-assisted composition, generative artificial intelligence, music information retrieval, and computational creativity. His work explores interpretable generative models for music composition, symbolic music analysis, and the integration of artificial intelligence into contemporary compositional practice.

    Gustavo Bonin is a composer, clarinetist, and researcher. He holds a Ph.D. in Music, with an emphasis on Sonology and Creative Processes, and an M.A. in Musicology from the School of Communications and Arts at the University of São Paulo (ECA-USP), Brazil. He conducts postdoctoral research in Linguistics and Semiotics at the Faculty of Philosophy, Languages and Human Sciences of the University of São Paulo (FFLCH-USP). His research focuses on musical enunciation, tensive semiotics, contemporary music theatre, and the interaction between musical language and other artistic practices. He was previously a substitute professor of Music Perception at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro.
