This article investigates the arrival of the Tárrega School in Brazil through the work of Praxedes Gil-Orozco, a Valencian guitarist who settled in São Paulo between the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Alongside other Iberian musicians, such as José Martinez Toboso and Alberto Baltar, Gil-Orozco was among the first mediators of the Tárrega tradition in the city, preceding the arrival of direct disciples like Josefina Robledo (1917). The research draws on primary sources — including newspapers, civil records, and association documents — as well as historiographical and musicological literature, proposing a new reading of the circulation and reception of the modern classical guitar in São Paulo. By situating the Tárrega School within the migratory circuits of a transforming city, the article contributes to the recognition of these musicians' role in shaping Brazilian guitar culture.
