Inflection of nouns, verbs, and postpositions in Khĩsêtjê

This study addresses the inflection of nouns, verbs, and postpositions in the mother tongue of the Khĩsêtjê people. The first author is Khĩsêtjê and resides in the Khĩkatxi village. The research was conducted within the scope of the Program for Initiation into Scientific, Technological, and Innovation Research (PIP) of Pró-reitoria de Pesquisa e Inovação (PRPI) of the Federal University of Goiás (UFG). In Khĩsêtjê, possessable nouns, verbs, and postpositions display person inflection. In addition, verbs show finiteness inflection, distinguishing between finite and nonfinite forms. For this study, inflectional paradigms were generated for words belonging to different grammatical classes. An exhaustive survey of the Khĩsêtjê postpositions was also carried out. The results are planned to be integrated into the pedagogical grammar of the Khĩsêtjê language, to be used at the Khĩsêtjê Central Indigenous State School of Basic Education (EEICEB Khĩsêtjê).
