Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the Barbie Fashionistas collection as a perspective on representation and education for ethnic-racial relations in childhood. To achieve this, qualitative bibliographic research was conducted, grounded in the theoretical-methodological framework of Historical-Cultural Psychology. Based on this framework, the study found that as the discourse of representation and inclusion promoted by the Barbie Fashionistas collection advances, a hidden and even broader set of representations is imposed on children's imagination. This process serves neoliberal market policies and a society still marked by racial prejudice. In this context, alienating aesthetic and beauty standards continue to be excessively propagated, undeniably affecting the education for ethnic-racial relations in childhood
